Client: END7   |   Project: Media, Celebrity & Political Advocacy to eliminate NTDs by 2020   |   Expertise: NGOs & Charity

We devised and implemented a multi-pronged strategy spanning government, corporate, media and celebrity stakeholder management and advocacy, in the UK and India for Sabin Vaccine Institute and its public facing initiative, END7, a global awareness and fundraising campaign seeking to eliminate seven neglected tropical diseases that affect 1.4 billion people by 2020. A key focus of our plan is a multilateral communications approach to ensure NTDs remain top of the agenda within political circles in the UK and India, with efforts targeted at influencing and building support with policy makers in government. We have achieved this through securing strategic thought-leadership media opportunities for key spokespersons such as Special Envoy and former President of Ghana, Mr John Kufuor, securing ambassadors such as Indian film stars Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan as the global face of the campaign to engage target groups in key markets, organising media FAM trips in NTD endemic regions, launching online viral content to bringing on board corporate, political and media partners to amplify the campaign’s efforts.

SINCE THE LONDON DECLARATION ON NTDS, MORE ATTENTION IS BEING PAID TO NTDS. THE UK AND INDIA HAS DEMONSTRATED ITS LEADERSHIP IN THE FIELD OF NTD POLICY, WITH THE UK HAVING PLEDGED OVER £250 MILLION FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. HOWEVER, TACKLING NTDS IS CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT AND MORE STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE THESE DISEASES BY 2020.
